Guwahati: Feature-length Khasi fiction film Lorni: The Flaneur has been selected for the competition section at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) in Estonia.

The annual film festival is scheduled to be held from November 15 to December 1.

PÖFF is the only festival in Northern Europe or the Baltic region with a FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association) accreditation for holding an ‘International Competitive Feature Film Program’, which places it alongside 14 other non-specialised competitive world festivals including Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Karlovy Vary, Warsaw, and San Sebastian.

Directed by a Shillong-based Independent filmmaker Wanphrang K Diengdoh, the Khasi fiction film highlights the Khasi identity and its linkage to history.

The film features Adil Hussain as the protagonist who is an aspiring detective set in contemporary Shillong born to a Khasi mother and a non-tribal father.

The film attempts to deconstruct the notion that the ‘past’ is the only repository of perfection. The languages of the film are English, Khasi, and Bazaar Hindi, all spoken across Shillong.
