Meghalaya teacher selected for prestigious fellowship in Geneva

Shillong: A physics lecturer from Meghalya has bought laurels to the state and the entire Northeast region by achieving the prestigious ‘International High School Teacher Programme’ fellowship to be held at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland in July this year.

Rahul S Chatterjee, an assistant lecturer of physics from Jail Road Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Shillong, was the only teacher from the country to make up to the list of 48 best international physics teachers who will attend the prestigious fellowship programme at Geneva.

Chatterjee won the prestigious fellowship at CERN (European Centre for Nuclear Physics) through an open international competition held across 35 countries and six continents across the globe.

Chatterjee will leave for Geneva in July to attend the two-week-long training under the prestigious fellowship programme at CERN.

Earlier, on several occasions, Chatterjee was recognised for his works at national and international platforms. In 2009, he was conferred with the 'Science Teacher Award' by the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), NER Local Chapter. He also received the highly-acclaimed 'International Leaders in Education Programme' (ILEP) fellowship to the US in 2012.
