CM Biren Singh chairs 1st meeting of Shirui Lily festival 2022.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday chaired the first meeting of the organising committee of the Shirui Lily Festival 2022 to be held in Ukhrul district headquarters. 

However, the date for the fourth edition of the festival is yet to be finalised.

Taking to his Twitter handle, CM Biren Singh said, “Presided over the 1st meeting of Shirui Festival 2022 Organizing Committee. It is a matter of great joy that the Shirui Festival will resume after a gap of two years because of the pandemic.”

No stones will remain unturned in making Shirui Festival 2022 that aims to promote sustainable tourism a grand success, Singh said.

During the meeting, the organising committees discussed many agendas, including timing, venue and budget among others on holding the festival at Ukhrul district headquarters.

The meeting also discussed to arrange more areas and space for parking to avoid traffic congestion during the festival.

Shirui Lily Festival is an annual eco-tourism festival of the state in honour of the Shirui Lily, a unique species of ground lily and blooms only at Shirui Kashong Peak. The festival attracts tourists both from other parts of the country and foreign nationals.

However, over the last two years, the festival, which is being organised by the state tourism department, was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdownsm.
