Imphal: In a major achievement for security forces ahead of the assembly elections in Manipur, troops of Keithelmanbi Battalion of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police busted a terrorist hideout in Leimaram Makha Leikai village of Bishnupur district on Wednesday, said an official.

As per an official statement, based on specific intelligence, troops of Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police launched an operation, which led to recovery of large quantum of arms and ammunitions, including three 9mm pistols, two hand grenades, one radio set, six detonators, half kg explosives, M-79 grenade launcher rounds and one safety fuse.

Security forces suspect the recovered cache of arms and ammunition was to be used to disrupt the state assembly election process. The seized weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigation, it added.
