Imphal: Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (south) arrested an active militant belonging to the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak – Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) from Bishnupur district in Manipur on Monday.
Based on specific intelligence from reliable sources, Khoupum Battalion along with Bishnupur police launched an operation and arrested the insurgent, said the official.
The arrested insurgent has been handed over to Bishnupur police station for further investigation, the official added.
PREPAK-Pro is one of the constituents of a coordinating committee of six militant outfits (CorCom) which is reportedly fighting to restore Manipur’s past sovereignty.
