New Zealand admits it can no longer get rid of coronavirus

Imphal: Manipur reported 863 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Fourteen persons succumbed to the coronavirus infection in the same period.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state increased to 73,581, while the death toll now stands at 1,218.

According to the latest health bulletin, the state’s active cases on Tuesday stands at 6,231, of which 2,296 patients are in home isolation.

The new COVID-19 cases, including 25 personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), tested positive at RIMS (12), JNIMS (59), district hospitals (591) and other testing facilities (201).

The latest deaths were reported from Imphal East (5), Thoubal (4), Imphal West (2), Kangpokpi (2) and Bishnupur (1) districts.

Meanwhile, of the new COVID-19 cases, 298 were reported from Imphal West, 125 from Imphal East, 96 from Kakching, 73 each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, 27 from Tengnoupal, 16 each from Chandel, Jiribam and Tamenglong, 15 each from Noney and Ukhrul, nine each from Kangpokpi and Senapati, three from Pherzawl and one from Kamjong district, said the bulletin.

With 592 more persons discharged on Tuesday, the recovery rate now stands at 89.87 per cent. Of the latest discharged persons, 218 were at home isolation, 27 at RIMS, 11 at JNIMS, 139 at COVID-19 care centres and 197 at community home isolation centres (CHICs).

On Monday, 30,476 persons received the COVID-19 vaccination, taking the total number of doses to 7,69,107. Of these, 6,81,679 have received the first dose and 87,428 have received both the doses.
