Imphal: COVID-19 cases in Manipur crossed the 37,000-mark after the state recorded 666 new cases, the government informed.
The total active cases spiked to 5,272 with a recovery rate of 84.34%.
The new positive cases in Manipur include 659 persons from the general population and seven personnel belonging to the Central Armed Police Force, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
The new cases are from Imphal West (252), Imphal East (171), Kakching (60), Churachandpur (50), Bishnupur (48), Thoubal (34), Ukhrul (15), Senapati (13), Noney (7), Kangpokpi (6), Tamenglong (4), Chandel (3), Kamjong (2) and Tengnoupal (1), respectively.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it said.
Also, on Wednesday, 17 infected persons succumbed to the virus, taking the total number of deaths to 526.
The victims include eight people from Imphal East, three people from Imphal West, two each from Churachandpur and Thoubal, and one each from Bishnupur and Kakching districts.
