COVID-19: Manipur imposes festive season night curfew
Guwahati: To prevent mass gathering this festive season amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Manipur government has decided to impose night curfew on Christmas eve and New Year's eve.
On the intervening night of December 24 and 25, the night curfew will be in effect from 12 midnight to 4 am. And on December 31, Manipur will remain under night curfew from 12 midnight till 4 am on January 1, 2021.
On the other days, the night curfew will begin at 10 pm and end at 4 am.
Manipur Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar advised against community feasting in order to prevent spread of COVID-19. Likewise, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur chapter, has cautioned against large gatherings and adviced to avoid crowded places during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Christmas and New Year gatherings in state have also been restricted up to 50 per cent of the hall capacity with a ceiling of 200 persons in closed spaces while strictly adhering to COVID-19 protocols.
