Naga political issue not only confined to Nagaland: Zeliangrong United Front
Imphal: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Saturday said that the ongoing Naga political issue is not only confined to Nagaland but across Naga-inhabited areas.
ZUF secretary Hozam Thaimei in a press statement also stated that Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) had organised several consultative meetings with public leaders, social workers, intellectuals, villages and church leaders of Manipur, including Longmai (Noney) and Imphal besides meeting public leaders of other Naga tribes of Manipur.
ZUF, a Manipur-based armed group, had allied with NNPGs and have been a part of the Indo-Naga peace process.
During consultative meetings, ZUF chairman Raitu Chawang, who is also the member of NNPGs Working Committee highlighted the progress of the Indo-Naga peace process, it said.
The ZUF leader further stated that NNPGs is only for Nagas in Nagaland is the false propaganda of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) and alleged that it is hampering the peace process which has been the aspiration of general Naga public.
Moreover, the Naga group also alleged that the NSCN-IM threat to shoot public or anyone who attends the NNPG meeting itself a counter-productive gesture which is meant only to confuse and mislead the public.
"Such violent obstruction needs to be condemned by one and all, especially at this crucial juncture when all the Naga political groups should be joining hands in the political journey to materialise lasting and honourable solution for all the Nagas of Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of northeast India," said the ZUF leader in a statement.
During the consultative meetings which were held at various places in Manipur, leaders and intellectuals shared their views and expressed support for early Indo-Naga solution after witnessing the competencies of NNPGs in detail, claimed the Naga group.
The group further sought cooperation from the Zeliangrong people in particular and the Naga public in general to achieve the common goal or solution as agreed upon the Government of India and NNPGs Working Committee.
