Manipur: Two persons injured in a bomb blast near RIMS gate in Imphal
Imphal: A couple was reportedly injured on Monday morning after a suspected low intensity of improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Imphal, police said.
As per the official, the incident occurred at between 8:47 to 9 am near at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital main gate. The couple belonging to Morum village of Kangpokpi district were injured on their right hands and left legs and are out of danger.
Moreover, the couple, identified as Papao and his wife Haopi, came at the hospital for a treatment when the incident happened, it said.
However, no damage to houses and other properties nearby the vicinity of the incident is reported so far.
Speaking to media persons, Deputy Inspector of General of Police Range 1, Themthing Ngashangva condemned the incident and alleged that such act which termed as cowardice is meant only to hurt the innocent people.
When everybody is so concerned about the pandemic, such incident right in front of the hospital gate is highly condemnable. Such an act is only meant to hurt the innocent people, including the passerby and those coming to the hospital for treatment, said DIG Ngashangva.
