Manipur: Boy declared dead comes back 'alive', later succumbs to injury
Imphal: In a sheer miracle yet disheartening, a boy from Manipur’s Thoubal district allegedly came back to live after doctors at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital in Imphal declared him dead on Thursday.
As per reports, a 16-year-old boy identified as Elangbam Mocha, son of E Eningthem of Heirok Part II, was admitted at ICU ward of RIMS Hospital after a horse kicked him in his abdomen and declared dead by the doctor treating him. Later, he allegedly came back to life while his family and relatives were preparing for his last rites.
The family rushed him to the nearest CHC and later referred him at Thoubal district hospital; however, since the hospital did not have ECG facility, the family finally admitted him at Shija Hospital in Imphal after hours of struggles. Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital couldn’t revive the boy due to his weak pulses, the report said.

He received the first aid at the community health center, Heirok, but due to severe pain and the injury was critical, doctors of CHC referred him at district hospital Thoubal on the same day.
Again, he was referred either at RIMS or JNIMS Hospital, to which the family admitted him at RIMS in Imphal.
An operation was carried out on Wednesday after doctors at RIMS found some blood clout inside his abdomen caused by the horse-kicked and later admitted at ICU. However, the boy was declared dead and a death certificate was also issued to the family members and mentioned the cause of death as ‘Hypovolemic shock due to blunt trauma abdomen, it said.
