Manipur announces one-day state mourning for Kuwait’s Emir on Oct 4

One-day state mourning will be observed on October 4 and the National flag will be flown at half-mast in all government office buildings in Manipur where the National is flown regularly

Imphal: Manipur state government on Saturday has declared a one-day state mourning on October 4 (Sunday) for the Emir of Kuwait Sheik Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who passed away on Tuesday. He was 95.

In the official announcement ordered by Governor Najma Heptulla, it said “the Governor of Manipur hereby orders that as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary His Highness Sheik Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, who passed away on September 29.”

One-day state mourning will be observed on October 4 and the National flag will be flown at half-mast in all government office buildings in Manipur where the National is flown regularly, it added.

“There will be no official entertainment on the day of mourning on Sunday,” said the governor.

The announcement is in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a mark of respect, declared a day of national mourning on October 4.
