The additional public prosecutor stated that Th Brinda wanted to get rid of Geetabala Devi, wife of complainant Mayanglambam Khelendrs as she had become a hurdle in the love relationship
Imphal: The additional public prosecutor named named Manipur police officer, Thounaojam Brinda as the main accused in a 2012 attempt to murder case.
This revelation was made before the court of the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Imphal West, Y Somorjit Singh. This during the judicial remand plea of the other three accused who have been sent to judicial custody for 15 days by . The arrested individuals are Arambam Manju Singh, Laitonjam Gopal Singh and Md Imran Hussain alias Boi.
The additional public prosecutor (APP) told the court that one of the accused Arambam Manju Singh worked as a driver of Th Brinda from 2005 to 2006 and till May 2012. The APP further stated that Singh, along with another person late Abdul Tarique, committed the offences mentioned in the FIR on the instruction of the main accused Th Brinda who is yet to be impleaded.
The APP further stated that Brinda was having an affair with the complainant, Mayanglambam Khelendro, and in many occasions, Arambam Manju Singh had witnessed the complainant spending time with Brinda. The public prosecutor further submitted that Brinda wanted to get rid of Geetabala Devi, wife of the complainant Khelendro as she was a hurdle in their relationship.
The counsel also highlighted a series of events starting from how the accused Arambam Manju, first met the complainant (Khelendro) through Brinda at Sekmai and how Brinda planned and instructed him to threaten the wife of the complainant.
"It was through Abdul Tarique that the HIV infected blood was procured and attempted to inject the same to the complainant's wife on the fateful day the offence was committed allegedly on the instruction of Brinda," APP stated.
The public prosecutor further submitted that the main accused Brinda cannot be arrested as she has already taken anticipatory bail. It is further submitted that the present accused persons used small gun of RK Chinglen, who is the husband of Brinda, at the time of threatening the wife of the complainant.
The final report in this case was submitted and closed in 2013. However, after a lapse of seven years, the case was revived by the CJM on the ground that there were some hints which could lead to the identification and arrest of the unknown culprits of the case.
The ordered also stated that releasing the accused persons at the present stage of investigation may not be in the interest of justice since the main accused of the case is yet to be impleaded and for this more investigation is required on the part of the investigation agency.
One of the co-accused Arambam Kishan alias Boboi is yet to be arrested. For this, the physical presence of the accused persons is necessary as the accused probably have full knowledge about the whereabouts of other culprits the APP said.
