Manipur to increase exam centres for NEET 2020: Education minister

National Testing Agency has assured that the number of examination centres for NEET 2020 will be increased, says education minister Thokchom Radheshyam

Imphal: The National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2020, which is slated to be held on September 13, will see an increase in the number of centres this year in Manipur with an aim to address the grievances faced by the parents and students as well as to maintain COVID-19 protocol.

Speaking to media persons, state education minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that the chairman of the National Testing Agency (NTA) has assured that the number of examination centres for NEET 2020 will be increased.

NEET is a common entrance test for both medical and engineering students and is conducted by the NTA under the Union government.

Apart from schools under Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), this year, the state government schools will also be utilised as examination centres so that provisions will be made to enable the state candidates to appear in the examination in the state as well, said the minister.

He also stated that many queries have been raised by the stakeholders regarding the examination centres and conduct of examination with the prevailing pandemic and lockdown in the state.

For the upcoming national examinations, necessary arrangement to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOP) and other required precautionary measures have also been put in place, as per the minister.

The minister appealed the aspiring students for the said examination to prepare well and come out in flying colours.
