Imphal: Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (south) along with Bishnupur police have recently arrested a self-styled lance corporal of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur.
As per an official report, based on the reliable inputs, the combined team consists of Assam Rifles and the police launched an operation and arrested the active member of the banned rebel outfit from Leimaram Bazar area in Bishnupur district on August 9.
The arrested cadre has been identified as 32-year-old Ningthoujam Kheta Singh alias Roshan of Waroching from Bishnupur district.
The arrested PLA rebel has been handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigation, it said.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is a separatist armed revolutionary group based in Manipur, having its political wing Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF).
PLA is also a member of the Manipur People’s Liberation Front, an umbrella organisation of three militant groups of Manipur, the other two being United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
