Churachandpur: Twelve-year-old Isaac Paulallungmuan Vaiphei from Churachandpur district in Manipur has just become the youngest candidate to clear the Class X board exams ever in the state.

Isaac secured first division marks (72%) in the recently declared results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM).

Of the total 38,390 candidates who appeared in the exams, Isaac was among the 11,884 who secured first division out of the 25,084 students who cleared this year.

A resident of Kangvai village, Isaac secured 73 in Mathematics, 53 in Science, 86 in English and 91 in Vaiphei (dialect) subject.Overall, he scored 432 out of 600 marks.

Ddespite clearing the exams comfortably and achieving the remarkable feat, Isaac said he is not satisfied with the marks since he was expected at least 80%.

However, he said he would do better in the upcoming examinations and is already aiming high to become successful in life.

Just like his role model Sir Isaac Newton, the young boy with an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) of 141 aims to become a researcher and find out new things which are yet to be invented. If not a researcher, then an IAS officer, he disclosed.

Speaking with EastMojo, the young lad said that he now wishes to pursue his further studies in science stream and, if possible, in any of the CBSE-affiliated institutions.

However, with his total percentage, Isaac said he is little doubtful.

Born in November 10, 2007 and the eldest among four siblings, Isaac showed his interest in reading books of higher classes and books on other subjects from a very age.

“By two years and three months exactly, Isaac had already learnt all the numbers and alphabets,” said Isaac’s mother earlier.

It may be mentioned that last year, the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) permitted Isaac to sit for the HSLC examination 2020 following a psychological test conducted by the department of clinical psychology in the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal.

The test result showed Isaac’s mental age as 17 years and five months with an IQ of 141, which is of very superior intellectual and development functioning.
