Manipur: Baby born in quarantine centre, named Emmanuel Quarantino

A baby boy weighing 3.2 kg was born without any complication at around 9:45 am on Sunday inside the institutional quarantine centre at Emmanuel School at Haipi

Kangpokpi: A bundle of joy arrived at an institutional quarantine center in Kangpokpi district in Manipur on Sunday. A Goa returnee delivered a healthy baby boy.

A 27-year-old woman gave birth to a baby boy weighing 3.2 kg without any complications at around 9:45 am on Sunday inside the institutional quarantine center at Emmanuel School at Haipi in the district.

The baby was delivered with the help of PHC Kalapahar health workers led by Dr Thangminlun Singson and Dr Nengpilhing Misao under the supervision of the district CMO Dr Nilakanta Singh and Dr Paotinlal Haokip, in-charge Medical superintendent of Kangpokpi district hospital.

Later, the baby was named after the quarantine center ‘Emmanuel Quarantino’ by the healthcare workers.

As per reports, the couple had arrived Manipur via Jiribam on May 27 from Gao by a special Shramik train. Since then, they were kept in a single room at the institutional quarantine center.

This the first such case of a baby being born at a quarantine center amid the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in the state.

Meanwhile, the mother is waiting her COVID-19 test result. He sameple was sent to JNIMS on May 30.
