Another person -- a Gujarat returnee -- tests positive at VRDL in RIMS; later shifted to COVID-19 care facility at RIMS for observation; state’s tally touches 60
Imphal: One more person from Imphal West in Manipur tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday night. With this, the total number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus in Manipur has increased to 60.
Currently, there are 53 active cases after seven patients, including the mother-daughter duo from Kamjong district, were discharged from hospital after being declared free from the virus.
The 60th case of COVID-19 in Manipur is a woman returnee from Gujarat.
Her sample was tested at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and later shifted to COVID-19 Care facility at RIMS for observation, said additional director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, adding that her condition is stable.
All necessary preventive and control measures, including contact tracing and containment has already process to avoid any further escalation of the virus.
On Friday, a total of 838 samples, including 580 at VRDL JNIMS and another 258 at RIMS, respectively, were tested for COVID-19
