Imphal: Four more persons, including two women, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur; this is in addition to the seven cases that tested positive earlier on Thursday.

Altogether, at least 11 persons have been detected for the novel coronavirus so far on Thursday, the highest number of cases tested within 24 hours in the state.

Now, Manipur has recorded a total number of 55 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 50 active cases in total.

One COVID-19 patient undergoing treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) was discharged on Thursday, taking the total number of recovered cases to five, said additional director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.

Samples of the latest four persons were tested at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) in JNIMS.

Dr Mangang also said that they (patients) will be admitted at COVID-19 Care facility at JNIMS for observation, adding that all the patients are in stable condition.

The seven persons detected earlier with the virus on Thursday have been admitted at RIMS.

Meanwhile, to contain the spread of the virus, the state government has put in place all control measures, including contact tracing and containment process.
