Samples of 7 new cases, all male, were tested at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Imphal; with this, total number of COVID-19 cases soars to 51 in Manipur
Imphal: Seven more persons in Manipur on Thursday tested positive for COVID-19, taking the state’s tally to cross the half-century mark at 51.
At present, there are 47 active cases after four were discharged from hospitals after they were declared COVID-19 free.
Among the seven new cases, five of them are from Thoubal district; the location for the remaining two persons were yet to be known till the time of filing this report.
Samples of the all seven persons, all male, were tested at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital in Imphal, said a health official.
All the seven patients will be admitted at COVID-19 Care facility at RIMS, the official said.
This is the second highest surge of confirmed cases in a single day for the novel coronavirus in the state since a fresh case was detected on May 13 and the highest for this week.
On May 20, at least 11 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, including a 23-day-old baby from Churachandpur district, the youngest among the COVID-19 patients in the state.
