Due to the growing cases of COVID-19 positive in the country and the ongoing lockdown, there is an apprehension that the state might face shortage of food grains this year.

“Agriculture and allied sector will be one of the main profession to help uplifting the economy after the lockdown with proper irrigation systems and support of farmers and concerned officials,” Singh tweeted.

Earlier, the state agriculture department had also initiated for necessary measures for double cropping system of paddy to over 8,240 hectares in the valley districts, as per reports.

The functioning of such water irrigation projects would be able to fill the void which has created by COVID-19 and better the state’s economy by providing sufficient water resources to agriculture and horticulture activities, especially during the lean season.
