Huge cache of explosive devices, including 10 gelatin sticks and 32 electronic detonators, mobile phones and ATM cards recovered from 2 women in Kakching
Imphal: Two women, including one from Nagaland, were arrested by the troops of Assam Rifles following the recovery of huge quantities of explosive devices in Manipur’s Kakching district, said reports.
According to reports, a team of 26 sectors Assam Rifles personnel, including women, arrested the women after explosive materials were detected on their handbags during routine frisking and checking at the gate of the battalion at Pallel Bazar, 46 km from Imphal, on March 2.
The arrested individuals have been identified as M Phungmila, 57, a resident of Pallel Bazar and Teresa Maring, 42, from Thizama village of Nagaland, said reports.
As per the reports, the security forces recovered a huge cache of explosive devices, including 10 gelatin sticks, 32 pieces of electronic detonators and two safety-fuses of around 2 metres along with two mobile phones and three ATM cards.
Upon disclosure by the women during interrogation, the search team, which comprised of AR and Kakching police, raided Phungmila’s residence at Pallel Bazar. The team recovered another 217 electronic detonators, 20 gelatin sticks and four safety fuses, reports said.
The two arrested women have been booked under Section 5 of the Explosives Substances Act after a case was lodged against them at the Kakching police station, said reports.
