Manipur woman wins silver at international masters swimming event

Imphal: Bonny Kshetrimayum from Manipur’s Imphal West bagged a silver medal at the recently-concluded the 3rd International Master Swimming Competition 2020 held at the Al Nasar Sports Complex in Dubai, say reports.

An avid swimmer and a mother of a three-year-old girl, 33-year-old Bonny represented India at the 50-metre women’s freestyle in the 30-34 age category at the international masters swimming event which was held on February 7 and 8 this year.

Currently residing in Hyderabad along with his husband, Dr Amarjit Singh, Bonny is a professional hydro-aquatic trainer at Swantana as well as an emergency trainer at Acute Cardiac Life Support by American Heart Association, as per reports.

Over the years, Manipur has produced many fine sportspersons, including women players like world champion woman boxer MC Mary Kom, former India women football team captain Bala Devi and weightlifter Mirabhai Chanu, among others, representing the country and bringing laurels to the nation.
