Imphal: The massive turnout at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal on Monday would put even the most popular sporting events of the region to shame.

After all, the state government had to make good use of a giant stadium to accommodate around 20,000 candidates who were called for the written test to fill up 1,350 posts of riflemen in the 10th and 11th India Reserve Battalion (IRB) of the Manipur police department.

The candidates who took the written test were called after they were successful in the 'physical efficiency' test held earlier.

Also, as per some reports, over 200 police personnel comprising officers and constables were deployed at the 12 entrance gates of the stadium to stand guard on Monday/

The number of candidates applying for the posts highlights the respect and admiration that the people of Manipur have for the men in khaki.
