Imphal: Manipur’s Chandel has managed to take the third slot among 111 aspirational districts in NITI Aayog’s Delta Ranking for the month of October this year for significant improvement made in the education sector.

According to NITI Aayog ranking, among the 111 aspirational districts, Chandel secured the third position after Assam’s Dubri and Baksa districts. Balangir and Rayagada districts of Odisha stood fourth and fifth in the Delta ranking.

Soon after the ranking list was released, NITI Aayog also took to its official Twitter handle and wrote: “By taking active steps to ensure efficient governance structures, enabling the provision of necessary infra and ensuring equitable academic opportunities, these are the Five most improved districts in the #Education sector, as per #NITIAayog’s Delta Ranking for October 2019 – Dubri, Assam; Baksa, Assam; Chandel, Manipur; Balangir, Odissa and Rayagada, Odisha.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts Programme’ with an aim to focus on the strengths of each district and prioritise the attainable outcomes for immediate improvement and address the gaps.

The programme is also to highlight the achievements of states and districts across different parameters, including health & nutrition, education, agriculture & water resources, financial inclusion, skill development and basic infrastructure.
