Kshetrimayum Gourabi Singh alias Lanthaba, a member of the banned insurgent group, arrested during routine check from Imphal East district
Imphal: An active member of banned outfit United National Liberation Front (UNLF) was arrested during a search and operation conducted by a combined team of Imphal East commando, 6 and 16 Assam Rifles based on specific information on Friday, said an official report.
According to the police report, the captain of the proscribed outfit UNLF, identified as Kshetrimayum Gourabi Singh alias Lanthaba, 50, of Tumukhong Mayai Leikai in Maphou Dam, was arrested while conducting search operation in and around Top Moirangkampu in Imphal East.
A mobile phone along with two SIM cards were found in his possession. A case was registered at Porompat police station for further investigation, said in a release issued by PRO of Manipur Police.
Meanwhile, the Bishnupur district police and commando arrested a drug peddler, identified as Md Rahamad, 48, of Kwaka Chanrangpat Ward No 9, during frisking carried out at Kwakta Khuman and Saiton near Chanrangpat playground.
During the search, a yellow plastic bottle containing 200 ‘World is Yours’ (WY) tablets and another red plastic bottle containing a gram of heroin powder was recovered from the accused.
A case was registered against him at Moirang Police Station for a thorough investigation, it said.
Earlier, as part of their continued search operations being carried out by the armed forces, two rebels of Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon) and an active worker of the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) or People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were also arrested from two separate places in Manipur on September 5 this year.
