Consignment containing heroin and WY tablets being transported from Moreh to Imphal recovered from accused in Khangabok area of Thoubal district
Guwahati: On the basis of a tip-off about contraband items being transported from Moreh to Imphal, a team of Thoubal police conducted mobile frisking and checking along NH-102 near Basu Ground, Khangabok and nabbed Khoiromongbi Sakhitombi Devi (65) for carrying drugs worth Rs 41.6 lakh on Friday.
During the checking exercise, the team on suspicion stopped a silver-coloured Maruti van bearing a registration number of WB-24Y-4172 and asked the passengers to evacuate the car along with their belongings. Four large plastic shopping baskets filled with dry fish belonging to Devi were found inside the van in a suspicious manner.
On examining it further, under civil witnesses, five polythene packets containing suspected heroine weighing 58 gm, 30 polythene bags containing 60,000 suspected WY tablets which were concealed inside five soap cases and 30 black plastic packets were found.
Thoubal police led by O Wangkhomba, DSP(CDO) along with women police under the command of Sachidanada Soibam, additional SP (ops), Thoubal and under the overall supervision of Thoubal SP S lbomcha Singh conducted the mobile frisking and checking exercise under the presence of civil witnesses.
