With the availability of services at the centre from next month, people of the state and region need not go to national capital New Delhi to apply for visas
Imphal: In what may come as a good news for the people of Manipur and the Northeast, especially those who are globetrotters, chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday announced that the state will have a visa services centre, the first of its kind in the state and the region, on August 5.
The announcement was made after a team of Visa Facilitation Services (VFS) Global called on CM Singh at his office in Imphal and discussed on the setting up of the centre.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Singh said: “The State will be launching a VFS (Visa Facilitation Services) centre on 5th August 2019 at the Citizen Facilitation Centre in Imphal.”
The centre will provide visa services for 40 countries all over the world, he added.
A Dubai-based company, VFS Global is a multinational enterprise managing visa application centres (VAC) and passport issuance-related administrative works.
With the availability of services at the centre next month, people of the state and the region need not go to Delhi to apply for visas; the centre will directly process the visa applications, it said.
Earlier, Singh also said that the Citizen Facilitation Centre, which is located near 2nd Manipur Rifles gate, aims to deliver different services to people through a single-window system and visa services is also among the list.
