The cyclists will travel across Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to spread awareness about global warming
Imphal: Three young cyclists from Manipur on Monday embarked on a journey from state capital Imphal to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the country, to spread awareness about global warming.
The three environment campaigners, Yumnam Chithang-Khomba Meitei, Ningthoujam Lakpa Meitei and Varnon Laishram, who just completed their Class XII, will be pedalling over 3,200 km across Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to finally reach their last leg of the expedition in Kerala.
Based on the theme, 'save environment to save our future’, the trio will complete their road trip in two-and-a-half month’s time.
Meanwhile, with the onset of pre-monsoon in most parts of the country, the three cyclists are all set to experience the diverse climatic conditions of the country during their 70-day trip.
During the flag-off ceremony held at Kangla (western) Gate in Imphal, many well-wishers, including their parents, relatives and friends came forward to wish them luck for their smooth and safe return.
