42 packets of ‘orange-coloured’ powder, believed to be the recreational drug, weighing approximately 582 gm, recovered from an auto-rickshaw in Tengnoupal district
Imphal: The Tengnoupal battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles seized contraband, suspected to be brown sugar, worth Rs 1.16 crore from the possession of Jampao Khungsai (40) at the Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP) in Khudengthabi, Manipur on Tuesday.
Khungsai, who hails from Moreh in Tengnoupal district of Manipur, was moving from Moreh to Khudnegthabi alone in his black auto-rickshaw (bearing registration number), was nabbed by security personnel.
Altogether 42 packets of some orange-coloured powder, believed to be brown sugar and weighing approximately 582 gm, were recovered from the vehicle.
Soon after receiving the information, an Assam Rifles team from Khudengthabi carried out a thorough check of the vehicle and recovered the contraband.
