Home made facemasks and face packs contain natural ingredients that are free of harsh chemicals that your skin may react to adversely. These masks provide instant glow and radiance to the skin, leave the skin feeling soft, moisturized, and radiant.

We’ve compiled a list of Do It Yourself (DIY) Face masks that are extremely easy to make, apply and rinse, that are a must try.

1. Cucumber and tomato face mask

Tanned in the sun? Here’s a cool mask that will not just soothe your skin. This is a popular homemade face mask that is ideal for improving skin complexion.

Directions to apply

  • Take a small tomato and half a peeled cucumber.
  • Mash the tomato to extract its pulp and grated cucumber to it.
  • Mix well and apply this on your face
  • Leave it on for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse with water.

Packed with lycopene the mask also acts as a natural sunscreen, although it is always advised that one wear sunscreen when stepping outdoors for better protection against the harmful UV rays of the sun. Cucumber in this mask is considered effective against scars, blemishes, and pigmentation.

2. Honey and carrot face mask

Carrots are a source rich in healthy nutrients for the skin. They not only help control oil secretion but when used with honey, makes skin glow and visibly reduces blemishes.

  • Take a medium sized carrot and grind it.
  • Add the carrot paste to about 1 tablespoon of honey.
  • Apply this carrot mask to your face.
  • Wash off with cold water after ten minutes.

3. Coffee-cocoa face mask

We are all aware that coffee is an excellent exfoliant. It aids in the retention of moisture and softening of the skin. It also aids in the removal of dead skin cells.

  • Take 1 tablespoon of ground coffee.
  • Add a spoon of cocoa powder to the coffee.
  • Pour some milk to the mixture and form a paste.

  • It is ideal to take ripe banana for this mask.
  • Blend 1 – 2 bananas in a blender.
  • Add 4 teaspoons of honey
  • Apply onto the face and massage gently.
  • Wash the mask off in about 20 minutes or leave it on overnight.
  • Rinse with warm water.

It is one of the most simple facemasks to prepare and apply and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soft.

5. Yogurt, honey and lime face mask

As tempting and delicious as the Yogurt and honey combination sounds, that’s how effective this face mask is when applied onto the skin with a dash of lemon in it. This mask for oily skin helps treat several mild skin conditions and helps brighten skin. It also helps control the production of sebum.

  • All you need for this is half a cup of curd 2 tbsp of lemon juice and 2 tbsp of honey.
  • Mix them all up together and you have your face mask.
  • This can be applied for about 15 minutes and rinsed off.

This face mask is effective for a fairer skin tone as lemon juice is said to lighten complexion because of vitamin C and citric acid. Honey acts as an anti-inflammatory component that also nourishes the skin.
