Some talented bakers from the Northeast have taken an initiative to make your Valentine’s Day week sweeter and more chocolatey.
Some homemade bakers have started making chocolates with special ingredients like dark and white chocolate to make their products extra sweet and make your February the finest and fabulous with their own uniqueness.
While there are many chocolate makers, both big and small, in the region, we have listed three of our favourites. These are all small-scale operations, so you can be assured that every thing they make is made with love, care and there are no middlemen munching away the profits.
Sanjeevani Goswami from Guwahati, Assam has started Chocolate Mood selling various flavoured chocolate such as dark chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate with praline. Her chocolates are filled with nutty goodness and rich sweet temptations dressed up in beautiful wraps. She also sells special vegan chocolates for vegetarian people and sugar free chocolates so that people conscious of weight gain or diabetes can fill their cravings too. Her chocolates are filled with various fillings like praline, dry fruits, blueberry, Nutella, caramel, peanut butter and coconut. She also added four varieties of truffles: Red velvet, Choco mocha, White coconut and Dark chocolate. SMALL WISH INTERNATIONAL
Small Wish International is a not for profit organisation, which has taken the initiative to empower woman, eradicate poverty and solve environmental issues.
Baivey is one such initiative which started on March 15, 2018 and it aimed to empower financially weak women with the technical skill set to prepare lip smacking chocolates.
The small wish foundation trained 120 women in European techniques of baking chocolates, cakes and pastries. Five of them are now earning about Rs 15,000 per month.
PEACE OF PIE
Peace of Pie was started two and half year ago in Guwahati, Assam serving delicious chocolates and cakes. Peace of Pie makes Gift boxes filled with yummy treats and chocolates for special events. Hill Wild are delicious, unique chocolates founded by Leiyolan Vashum and Zeinorin Stephen from Manipur to bring different flavours to life with healthy ingredients.
The hill chilli is a combination of the sweetness of cocoa with a pinch of pungent spicy chilli. They make a variety of chocolates with locally-harvested nuts, sesame and perilla seeds, plums, wild apples, pumpkin seeds, king chillies and even black rice, a highly-nutritious delicacy of the Northeast.
