 Significance and Relevance

As per Indian mythology, there are several beliefs associated with this festival. Some say that on this day, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married, whiothers believe that on the night of Shivratri Lord Shiva performed the heavenly dance of creation, preservation, and destruction.

On this day, devotees across the country visit temples, worship, and chant the name of Lord Shiva. The ‘Shiva Linga’ in the temple is decorated with Bay leaves that the deity is said to be fond of. Milk, fruits, and sweets are offered by the devotees to appease Lord Shankar and receive his blessings.
