The fusion of soul, mankind, and culture through a melodious path creates Mongeet

It is said that every soulful music is termed as Mongeet .When we came to know about this grand festival which was held in the largest inhabited riverine island in Dekasang resort, we were astounded to know that this is a step in the evolution of the already depleting Assamese music industry.

In this materialistic world which is devoid of a soul, such a step is necessary where music contributes a lot to our society. Erudites of the Assamese music industry who have made their name in Bollywood and many other national and international levels all gathered at the same place. Their common goal; the development of the Assamese music industry along with the development of the present social structure.

‘Project Mongeet’ Majuli Festival of Assam is the brainchild of two childhood friends who grew up in the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River. One of the two, Adil Hussain, is an internationally acclaimed actor, and the other Kaushik Nath, a man of many talents who after years of being an actor, director in the world of stage and television, turned to an entrepreneur. He has developed a chain of ecologically sustainable resorts in three corners of Assam.

The concept of ‘Project Mongeet’ has emerged out of a few words of “humanism, Universal brotherhood, empathy, and respect”. These words are becoming highly endangered in our society and this project is surely going to get back all these values with the help of some soul searching music.

The team of Mongeet Majuli Festival of Assam consists of Adil Hussain, Zubeen Garg, Angarag Papon Mahanta, Kalyan Baruah, Dhrubajyoti Phukan, Joi Barua, Anurag Saikia, Nilotpal Bora, Shankuraj Konwar, Mintu Barua, Utpal Borpujari and Kaushik Nath. It will be an annual event that will seek to grow every year, incorporating musicians from newer horizons while holding on to the core values of the concept.

When team VibesMojo had a chit-chat with Anurag Saikia, Sasanka Sameer, Mintu Baruah, and Manash Mahanta, a common thing was noticed in their words regarding the project. Mongeet, Majuli Festival of Assam is nothing but a ray of hope to create some soul connecting music along with the upcoming generations. They are of a view that this generation is growing in such a materialistic world where knowing themselves in a deeper way is a bit impossible. But this place which is away from all the hustle-bustle of the city and the distractions that come along with it will help them a lot.
