Movement Of Expression, an artist collective based in Shillong and popularly abbreviated as MOX, was launched with its event IP ‘MOX Party’ in 2017. After more than two years in the event business, MOX is officially launching its roster of artistes on at The Evening Club, Hotel Eee Cee, Shillong on August 10.
In order to announce the launch of the event, all the artistes from the roster have put forward a four-minute track, the MOX Cypher, where the beat switches after every 16 bar. The cypher has four MC’s, five languages (Hindi, English, Assamese, Khasi and Nepali) and two producers. This is a first of its kind from the Indian hip hop fraternity.
MOX has toured multiple cities across India such as Aizawl, Itanagar, Pune, and Guwahati, paving the way for the Northeastern hip hop artistes and producers to perform at new cities in front of various audiences.
The roster includes a multi-lingual rapper MOKSH, Nepali-English rapper/producer Nep zone, Banrap Lyngdoh, a household name of the Shillong hip hop scene and an active member of a popular choir, Shank Jay, an aspiring medical student with fine skills in rhythm and poetry, Aizawl-based producer/singer/songwriter; Yugi Beats and 19-year-old music degree student Aryaman Sarki or A.S Prod. MOX Showcase 001 will bring all the artistes on one stage to celebrate the diversity of Northeastern hip hop culture.
This year’s edition will play host to hip hop artistes and reggae musicians from all the corners of northeast India, thus solidifying MOX Party or Northeast Hip Hop Fest’s position as one of the most important hip hop events in the Northeast.
