Directed by Jay Bhansali, the madhouse comedy ‘Shit, yaar!’ is all set to tickle your funny bones with loads of comic and thriller scenes. The web series is a story of two young men willing to start their business and looking for investors, only to end up performing a stupid stunt that takes them on a weekend-long, hilarious yet tumultuous journey. The series features well-known comedians, including Sayandeep Sengupta, Sahil Shah, Priyasha Bhardwaj, Rajesh Khera and Vrajesh Hirjee.
Priyasha Bharadwaj of Aarya fame, the only woman character in the series, is a tough cop.
Speaking with EastMojo, Priyasha Bhardwaj said, “As Shit yaar is from the comedy genre, it was quite different for me to play the character. The character which I have played in the previous web series like Aarya and Mirzapur 2, those were more of drama and less comic. But this time, I am playing the part of a tough cop who is chasing criminals, so pulling off comedy & fitting into the role was a whole new experience for me.”
“Although the process was not that intense, I made sure that I have to play the moments naturally. There’s one thing that you cannot fake comedy. Actions must be natural if you want people to laugh, so keeping that in mind, I was true to my character,” she added.
Priyasha Bharadwaj has grown up in Assam & being an Assamese, it would be more exciting to see her playing the role of a Sikh woman. Speaking about her rehearsal stages, she said, “As I was playing the role of a Sardarni cop, I did work on the Punjabi language. I even enrolled myself in various Punjabi speaking classes. I also had to do some research on the Police academy to fit into the character. I also spoke with some female cops to know how they are like, so yes, all those researches helped me prepare for the role.”
Speaking about her future aspirations, she said, “The term Bollywood has been redefined nowadays because there are several actors who are doing great in the OTT platforms but yes, of course, I want to see myself on the big screen one day, hopefully, that will be soon. All I want to do is act lots of different characters, show my versatility as an actor & grow to perform real-life characters that people look up to.”
To aspiring actors, she suggests, “It is very important to know your strength and not much focus on the weaknesses. Just make sure that you are a unique individual so if you know how to own your personality and know how to highlight your strength then you’ll stand out. So if you want to become a successful actor, then work on your dreams & be ready to face the challenges.”
