Veteran Tamil comedian Vivek passed away on Saturday following a cardiac arrest in the early hours. He was 59.

He took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccination on Thursday at a government hospital instead of going to a private hospital, and promoted the importance of vaccination to fight coronavirus.

According to reports, he was admitted to SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani. Hospital vice-president Dr Raju Sivasamy said the sudden attack was due to an acute coronary syndrome with a cardiogenic shock, not related to the vaccine he took on Thursday.
