Agartala: Tripura on Tuesday recorded the highest-ever single-day deaths with 11 succumbing to COVID-19. The state also reported 466 fresh Covid cases, the highest single-day surge in the second wave.
The infection rate increased due to an increase in the number of samples tested than usual, the government said.
According to the media bulletin of the health department, in the last 24 hours, 6,288 samples, including 1,081 RT-PCR and 5,207 Rapid Antigen tested were conducted. Of these, 54 infections were found in RT-PCR and 412 in rapid antigen. In all, 466 new corona infections have been detected in the last 24 hours.
The silver lining for Tripura was that in the last 24 hours, 137 people were also released. At present, there are 2917 active patients with corona.
So far, 38,158 people have been infected with coronavirus in Tripura. Among them, 34,761 have recovered from corona infection and recovered. At present, the corona infection rate in Tripura is 5.02 per cent, and the recovery rate is 91.24 per cent. Meanwhile, the death rate is 1.10 per cent. As many as 419 people have died of corona in Tripura.
According to the health department, the West district continues to be at the top of the list of infections. In the last 24 hours, 271 people have been infected in the West district, 39 in the South district, 14 in Gomati district, 29 in Dhalai district, 42 in Sepahijala district, 36 in North Tripura district, 28 in Unakoti district and 7 in Khowai district.
