Dimapur: The Home Department’s General Administration Branch of the state of Nagaland has issued an order on November 12, allowing certain law agencies to penalise the violators of the SOPs issued by the state government from time to time.
“And whereas, it is observed that wearing of a mask, especially in public places, making the provision of handwashing facility by various establishments, maintaining physical distancing in high-risk settings, etc. are not being followed, which posses a high risk of infection not only to the defaulters but also to the people around them.” the order stated.
The order had four violations/Offence which can be punished by the law enforcing agency across the state. The violation/offence which can be penalised are as follows:
1. Non-Wearing of Mask: In public places (including offices, banks, markets and business establishments, restaurants, hotels, public transport, social and religious gatherings or meetings, educational institutions.)
2. No Hand washing facility/ hand sanitiser: This is applicable to Shops and business establishments, restaurants and hotels.
3. Non-adhering to the limit on the number of passengers as per guidelines: This is applicable to a bus, taxi, auto and rickshaws.
4. Violation or non-compliance of any other clauses/provisions of SOPs/ advisories currently in force, including but not limited to Quarantine, Isolation, Contact Tracing, Testing (e,g refusal to disclose contacts, refusal to undergo testing, isolation norm, discrimination against those affected by COVID-19, etc.)
A source from the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Nagaland told EastMojo that a new, comprehensive SoP will soon be laid down again by the state government, especially in regards to the returnees and quarantine procedure in the state.
