In an effort to address the rapid rise of coronavirus cases in Manipur, a dedicated COVID-19 Care Center at Raj Medicity has started functioning on Saturday, the second such center set up at the privately-run hospitals in Imphal.
The newly-inaugurated COVID-19 treatment block has a 21-bedding capacity, three ventilators and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC). The center will add another 50 more beds and 20 ventilators facilities in December, as informed by an official.
Altogether, 2,264 beds in 35 COVID-19 care centers are functioning across the state. RIMS and JNIMS Hospitals have 245 COVID-19 beds. District hospitals have 80 beds for persons infected of the virus and Shija, a private-run hospital, has 50 beds.
Speaking to EastMojo, Executive Director of Raj Medicity Vijayraj Haobija, said that owing to widespread coronavirus cases, the hospital is trying to do their bit to address the pandemic situation in the state.
According to Haobijam, each patient will be charged Rs 1,500 for a bed per night with dedicated nurses and doctors round the clock. The patients will also be provided food by the hospital as prescribed by a dietician at a reasonable and affordable price, it said.
Moreover, no patient party will be allowed entry inside the COVID-19 block, but they would be allowed to see the condition of the patient through a window pane, it said.
Since the outbreak of coronavirus in the state, a total of 19 infected persons have been admitted at Raj Medicity, out of which four recovered, five were referred to COVID-19 dedicated hospital and four remained as active cases.
At least six persons succumbed to the virus at the hospital, it added.
