Mizoram: 9 new COVID-19 cases push state tally to 2,184
Aizawl: At least 9 people, including a 1-year-old child, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking Mizoram’s Covid-19 caseload to 2,184, an official said on Monday.
All the nine cases reported in Aizawl were locally transmitted cases, the official added.
4 of the 9 patients were verified to have contracted the virus through contact with positive patients while the rest 5 patients were yet to be ascertained how they contracted the disease, he said.
While 5 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, the remaining 4 patients are asymptomatic, he said.
According to the official, the fresh cases were diagnosed with the help of Rapid Antigen Test.
No sample was tested at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) virology lab and Truenat machine labs in district hospitals in the last 24 hours, he added.
Mizoram on Monday registered a recovery rate of 92% as a total of 2,010 people have so far been discharged from hospitals after they were declared “recovered” from the virus.
The number of active cases now stands at 174.
Of the 174 active patients, 45 belongs to Aizawl district, 62 to Lunglei district, 11 to Kolasib district, 40 to Lawngtlai district, 6 each to Serchhip and Mamit districts and 2 each to Champhai and Saitual district, according to state health department.
Of the Mizoram’s 11 districts, Siaha, Khawzawl and Hnahthial districts are Covid-19 free as of now.
So far, Aizawl district reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 1,417, followed by Lunglei district, which reported 262 cases.
Kolasib district reported 233 cases, Siaha district-31, Champhai district-23, Serchhip district-64, Lawngtlai district-81, Mamit district-51, Khawzawl district-4, Hnahthial district-5 and Saitual district reported 13 cases so far.
Altogether, 88,551 samples have been tested till date, according to health department.
The Northeastern state has not reported any fatality due to Covid-19.
