Now, cinema halls to reopen from Oct 15; Know the SOPs

The Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar released the SOPs for the reopening of cinema halls

In a series of Tweets, the information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar released the SOPs for the reopening of cinema halls.

Fifty per cent capacity, staggered show timings, social distancing, thermal screening, adequate protection gear for the staff, and compulsorily providing phone numbers for "contact tracing" are among the guidelines issued for reopening cinema halls, theatres, and multiplexes from October 15.

Although people will be able to book tickets in the box office, the Ministry announced that the usage of the online mode of ticket booking shall be encouraged. The Ministry also encourages the use of the Aarogya Setu app and added that after the thermal screening of all the visitors, only the asymptomatic ones will be allowed to enter.

In a video message shared through twitter, the Minister made it mandatory for all the cinema halls to carry out regular cleaning and disinfection of the box office and other areas. Although there is no restriction in the movement of people, the Ministry recommends that the audience stay in their seats during intermissions. There shall be no delivery of food inside the hall, and only packaged food shall be allowed.

To avoid overcrowding, the Ministry wants an increase in the number of ticket booking counters.

In a set of 24 rules uploaded under the hashtag “UnlockWithPrecautions”, the Cinema Halls are all set to reopen from October 15. Mandatorily, all the halls must telecast public service announcements on wearing masks, maintenance of physical distancing, and hand hygiene to be made before and after screening and even during the intermissions.
