The US will not be joining the global efforts to develop, manufacture and distribute COVID-19 vaccine because of World Health Organisation (WHO) is a part of it.

President Donald Trump claims that the WHO is in need of reform and is heavily influenced by China. This decision comes as a follow up to US's early July decision to pull out of WHO.

According to a report by The Washington Post, the United States will not participate, in part because the White House does not want to work with the WHO, which President Donald Trump has criticized over what he characterized as its “China-centric” response to the pandemic.

More than 150 countries are working in concord for setting up COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility, or COVAX. The joint effort will speed vaccine development and secure doses for all countries and distribute them among high risk segment of each population.

Judd Deere, spokesperson of the White House said that US will continue to engage international partners to beat the virus. However, US will not be constrained by multilateral organisation influence by corrupt WHO, he added.

Meanwhile, Deera tweeted yesterday on a COVID-19 vaccine. He said, "#BREAKING: President @realDonaldTrump announces that AstraZeneca has begun phase 3 clinical testing of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate. Under the President's Operation #WarpSpeed, three vaccine candidates are now in Phase 3."
