Tripura MLAs-- Sudhangshu Das and Kalyani Roy-- have tested positive for novel coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, 7 MLA have been infected so far
Agartala: Two more Tripura MLAs, Sudhangshu Das and Kalyani Roy, have tested positive for novel coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours in the state.
So far a total of seven legislators, including five BJP and two Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura MLAs have tested positive for COVID-19 virus in the state.
The MLAs who have tested positive include Rampada Jamatia, Mimi Majumder, Asish Kumar Saha, Kalyani Roy and Sudhanshu Das from BJP and Dhananjoy Tripura and Brishketyu Debbarma from IPFT party.
However, Rampada Jamatia, Dhananjoy Tripura have recovered from the virus while others are undergoing treatment in home isolation.
Taking to twitter Kalyani Roy, the chief whip of the BJP, who also represents Teliamura assembly constituency informed that she along with her family members and two personal security officers have tested positive for COVID-19.
“Me and my family including two of my Personal Security Officers tested positive for COVID19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last few days, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19," She wrote.
Sudhangshu Das, MLA from Fatikroy assembly constituency, informed that he along with one of his personal security officer and driver has tested positive for the virus.
The chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb took to twitter and wrote, “Unfortunate news! Chief Whip & MLA @kalyaniroybjp, her family members & security personnel have tested COVID19 positive. I pray for speedy recovery of them all.”
BJP MLA Ramapada Jamatia was the first legislator to have tested positive for COVID-19 on July 22. Later, on August 1, IPFT MLA from Raimavalley assembly, Dhananjoy Tripura, was found injected with COVID-19.
Meanwhile, so far a total of 12,719 persons have tested positive out of the total 2,77,951 samples tested positive with 118 COVID-19 deaths and 4,734 active cases.
The COVID-19 media bulletin informed that currently, 350 persons are under facility quarantine, while 3,513 are under home quarantine.
So far, a total of 2,68,276 were tested and 11,323 persons have tested positive for the virus, with 98 deaths and 4,012 active cases so far.
