Manipur: 123 with no travel history test COVID-19 positive in 24 hours
Imphal: In the last 24 hours, a total of 125 fresh cases, of which 123 locals with no travel history to other states, tested positive in Manipur.
Two security personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were also diagnosed to the disease, with this a total of 653 from the armed forces are undergoing treatment for COVID-19.
As on September 2, the total confirmed cases for the disease in Manipur recorded is 6,507, in which 4,905 are from the general population and 1,602 are the security personnel, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
The latest 123 locals with no travel history are reported from Imphal West (40), Imphal East (18), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (17), Churachandpur (28), Kakching (5) and Chandel (1). They have been shifted to COVID-19 care centers for further observation, it said.
Also, in the last 24 hours, no casualty related to COVID-19 is reported; however, the pandemic has already claimed 29 lives in the state.
On Wednesday, a total of 157 infected persons were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test and have been discharged from CAPF and various COVID-19 care centers. With this, the total recovered cases are now 4,607 and 1,871 remained as active cases.
The recovery rate in the state stands at 70.80 per cent, as per the data released by COVID-19 Common Control Room.
