Manipur: 55-year-old woman dies due to COVID-19; 130 fresh cases detected
Imphal: Another person, tested with COVID-19 positive in Manipur, has succumbed to the virus on Tuesday, pushing the total fatality tally in the state to 29.
A 55-year-old woman from Thoubal district was expired due to COVID-19 at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital in Imphal, as per the latest data issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room.
In the last 24 hours, another 120 persons infected with the virus were recovered and discharged from CAPF and various COVID-19 care centers in the state. With this, the total numbers of recovered persons are 4,450, including 884 security forces.
As on September 1, the recovery rate from the disease in Manipur stands at 69.72 per cent, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
Meanwhile, 130 fresh cases were detected as new COVID-19 positive patients in the state, including three personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The total confirmed cases for COVID-19 have reached to 6,382 and active cases remained at 1,903.
They were confirmed diagnosed to the virus from VRDL RIMS, VRDL JNIMS, Raj Medicity, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Kangpokpi, Imphal West, Jiribam, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal East and Tamenglong.
Of the 127 new cases from the general population, only two from Tamenglong district are returnees and the remaining 125 are locals without travel history to other states.
The local transmitted cases are reported from the districts of Imphal West (60), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (22), Ukhrul (2), Bishnupur (7), Churachandpur (6), Senapati (2), Kangpokpi (2), Tamenglong (13) and Jiribam (6).
Amid the reports of local transmission in various districts, the state health department have initiated an intensive awareness drive and carried out Miking in various areas in Imphal.
In the last 24 hours, Miking is being continued in various areas in Imphal West, including Sayang Road, Sega Road Thokchom Leikai, Hodam Leirak, Takhel Leikai, Khagempalli Elangbam Leikai, Yaiskul, Keisampat, Thangmeiband, Nagamapal and Sagol Meino Leirak.
