Tripura classifies 3 level health service for COVID-19 patients

The parts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Indoor exhibition hall has been notified as a dedicated Covid Health Centre for moderate symptom patients on Thursday

In a move to provide better healthcare and improve management of COVID-19 positive patients, the department of health notified part of two COVID Care Centres (CCC) as dedicated COVID Health Centre (CHC) on Wednesday.

A letter issued by the director of family welfare and preventive medicine Radha Debbarma informed that the parts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and indoor exhibition hall has been notified as a dedicated CHC for moderate symptom patients.

Earlier, the COVID-19 core committee members said that the decision to provide treatment in three levels was taken to ensure proper management health service for the positive patients.

As per the decision of the core committee meeting with the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, the positive patient would be treated in three levels as per their health status.

The first level would be home isolation or CCC at their respective districts for asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients. The second level in the dedicated COVID Health Centre at Shaheed Bhagat Singh and indoor exhibition hall at Hapania for symptomatic patients and third in COVID-19 ward at Govind Ballabh Pant hospital for severe patients.

“A good number of patients are referred to AGMC & GBP hospital who are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms. Such patients can easily be managed at home or CCCs located within the districts. There is no need to refer them to DCH at AGMC & GBPH”, the director of health services Dr Subhasis Debbarma said.

He also said that any patients needed to be referred under compelling circumstances from South, Gomati & Sepahijla are to sent to Hapania COVID Care Centre. Those patients from North, Unakoti, Dhalai & Khowai District are to be referred to Sahid Bhagat Singh CCC, Agartala. Severe and symptomatic patients only are to be referred to AGMC & GBP COVID Hospital.

The nodal officer of CCC & DCH should be informed positively before any referral of patients. At the same time, in-charge of DCH & CCC, Matron & senior Staff Nurse should talk to every patient over the telephone and enquire about their health status and problems, the director added.

Meanwhile, Four more persons succumbed to the virus taking the death toll to 89 with 6,839 recovered cases and 10,433 confirmed cases.

2,58,053 samples have been collected in the state, out of which 2,7,018 were tested, and 9,927 samples returned positive. There are 2,977 active cases.

The positivity rate stands at 3.86 per cent, test per million at 64,293 while the recovery rate stands at 69.03 per cent and mortality rate at 0.90 per cent.
