The robot named 'Zafira' monitors to ensure that social distancing norms are followed and people wear masks inside the garment store in Tiruchirappalli
Guwahati: Customers at a garment store in Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu are greeted with a never seen before visual; a robot draped in saree is seen greeting the customers.
Zafira is the name of the saree-draped robot. She is equipped with artificial intelligence and keeps track of the number of customers that enters the store at a time. The robot then monitors them to ensure that social distancing norms are followed and that they wear masks. Zafira even checks the temperature and also dispenses sanitizer. All the measures are designed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Aashik Rahman, the CEO of Zafi Robots, while speaking with a leading news daily, said that they have been developing the robots ever since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. According to him, the robot has a complete intelligence system and will track the number of people entering a store at once and is even equipped to send details to the owners via email on a daily basis.
Additionally, Zafira is a voice-activated robot and can be dressed up in different outfits that suit the need of any establishment. Due to its versatility, the AI-based robot is being used in various cloth-stores of the company in Tiruchirappalli.
Meanwhile, Rahman also added that their team is now focusing on the mass production of the robot as they have received orders in bulk from various showrooms across Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
