Shillong: COVID-19 claimed another life in Meghalaya on Saturday evening taking the total number of deaths related to the coronavirus to eight in the state.
An 84-year-old person from West Garo Hills district passed away on Saturday evening. The person tested positive for COVID-19 during a random sampling at Tikrikilla.
According to the district administration of West Garo Hills on a Facebook post, it stated, “A person aged 84 years who was tested positive during random sampling in Tikrikilla and admitted in TCH Covid ward on 18th August has passed away last night owing to complications due to comorbidities.”
The new death recorded in the state has now left several of the citizens concerned, since several new cases have been detected during the random sampling carried out in the state.
The new death case was reported in a span of less than 24 hours in the state. The total number of deaths now stands at eight. Total number of active cases is 1,035 and recovered 769.
