Active cases soar to 1,684 as 17 from Kohima, 10 from Dimapur, 7 from Zunheboto, 2 from Peren test COVID-19 positive
Kohima: There has been a surge in COVID-19 cases as 36 more persons from Nagaland tested positive on Friday. The new COVID-19 cases have been reported out of 742 samples that were tested.
Among the fresh cases, 17 of them are from Kohima, 10 are from Dimapur, seven from Zunheboto and two from Peren. With the addition of the new cases, the state's tally touched 3,619 on Friday.
With a daily spike in cases, Dimapur continues to lead the district tally for the highest number of COVID-19 cases. Up to 1,850 confirmed cases have been reported in Dimapur alone. However, with 934 recovered cases, the total number of recovered cases in Dimapur is more than the number of active cases at 906. On Thursday, out of 215 recovered cases that were reported in the state, 192 were from Dimapur.
Total confirmed cases in Kohima also crossed the 1,000-mark on Friday as 17 new cases were detected. Out of a total of 1,009 positive cases, the number of active cases in Kohima is currently 610.
In addition of the new cases, Peren recorded a total of 266 positive cases of which 16 are currently active. Zunheboto district has reached a total of 107 positive cases of which 70 are currently active.
Taking to Twitter, Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed about the new cases. "Update! 36 new +ve cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed out of 742 samples tested. 17 in Kohima, 10 in Dimapur, 7 in Zunheboto & 2 in Peren. Necessary contact tracing have been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation," he wrote.
